Mlaka’s wife to release album

Former member of Parliament (MP) for Chikwawa Central Bernadetta Mlaka Maliro has revamped her music career and is set to release an album early next month.

Bernadetta, who is a wife to popular musician McDonald Mlaka Maliro, said she has decided to revamp her music career as one way of supplementing her husband effort’s in spreading the gospel through music.

“I am not new on the music scene; I started singing a long time I go when I was at Fatima Primary School. I started composing songs for this album in 2010, but due to parliamentary work, I did not go in the studio. Now that I am out of Parliament, I have time for studio work and my album will be ready next month,” she said.

The former parliamentarian said she has featured several top gospel artists in the album, including Ethel Kamwendo Banda, Sam Maliza as well as her husband, who is a full-time pastor at Cross Life Ministries at Chilomoni in Blantyre.

“Music lovers should expect a good album; I feel I have done a good job,” she said.

Bernadetta first appeared on the music scene when she worked alongside former Zembani Music Band backing musicians Emma Masauko.

Thereafter, she performed alongside her husband in his Maloto Vibrations.

Apart from featuring in Mlaka’s Kamandidutsadutsa music video, Bernadetta also composed a song titled Yona with Coss Chiwalo in 2011.

Bernadette plans to launch the album in August at Robin’s Park in Blantyre.
