Mlozi: It’s a good package.

Big Bullets quick-heeled striker Diverson Mlozi is on the verge of clinching a season-long loan move to Swaziland MTN Premiership side Malanti Chiefs after a successful two-week trials.

Mlozi flew back home last week to process his clearance to the Manzini side, he confirmed on Monday. Malanti started processing his transfer before the closure of the transfer window.

“I was visiting my parents in Mponela [Dowa District] as I will be leaving for Swaziland for good in a few days. I passed the trials, they offered me a contract, but I am yet to put pen to paper. The package is relatively good compared to what we earn in Malawi,” said Mlozi.

Bullets chairperson Kondi Msungama said Mlozi left for Swaziland with the entire executive and technical committee’s blessings. Malanti’s South Africa-based owner [Dumsani Gumede] is Msungama’s friend and asked him to help with a striker.

“If big teams such as Manchester United loan out players who are we not to give players a chance to play outside the country? I consulted the coaching panel on a striker they could afford to release on loan and they mentioned Mlozi looking at the fact that there are other equally good strikers such as Mussa Manyenje, Jaffalie Chande, Jimmy Zakazaka, Tizgobele Kumwenda and Frazer Menyani,” explained Msungama.

The agreement with Malanti, currently placed fourth on the Swaziland league, is that in the event of their wanting to re-sell the player, Bullets will get 70 percent of the transfer fee, said Msungama.  Thabo Vilakazi coaches Malanti whose home ground is Rocklands Stadium.

Mlozi signed for Bullets in 2008 from Maicc and emerged the TNM Super League’s top scorer with 14 goals in 2008, but struggled to replicate his form over the season due to college education commitments, among others.

He is set to retrace the footsteps of Kinnah Phiri who played for Manzini Wanderers from 1985 before coaching them.
