Morgan Heritage, the renowned Jamaican Reggae movement whose Sunday show in Lilongwe drew mixed reactions, is coming again in the country alongside either Stephen or Jo Mersa Marley to perform in October 2016.

Born Afrikan, the promoter of the show, says the deal has already been sealed with Morgan Heritage, but what is remaining is to identify another artist to accompany the group.

The tour, according to Born Afrikan, was mooted by Morgan Heritage, but has in part, been sponsored by United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP). Proceeds from the show will be given to charity of choice of UNEP, as part of the I Jam Festival.

Said Born Afrikan: “The I Jam Festival is a package comprising, Angelique Kijo, Alpha Blondie, 2 Face, John Legend, Morgan Heritage, Stephen Marley and Jo Mersa Marley and a few others. But what happens is if you are hosting in a country you can choose artists you want depending on your financial capabilities or just preference and as Malawi we have opted to invite Morgan Heritage who have already agreed to come and we are hoping to also rope in either Stephen or Jo Mersa Marley.”

Peetah, Mojo and Gramps Morgan confirmed that they are coming again next year and promised to bring a full band.

The trio said they are committed to dishing out a class performance, which is why they opted to do a backtrack performance last Sunday rather than rely on a band whose set of talent they were not sure of.

Born Afrikan opted to bring only three members of the 17-member Morgan Heritage entourage after he was left with a $90 000 bill as other African countries that were supposed to share the bill with pulled out at the last minute.

Born African has since promised that he is going to improve in many areas such as security, sound quality and also that they are going to sell all tickets before the show. n
