Mount Pleasant urges chairs to be Christ centered

Committee chairs of Mount Pleasant CCAP in Blantyre City Presbytery have been told to be Christ-centered as they discharge their duties.

Church moderator Reverend Baxton Maulidi said this last Sunday during the induction of additional members of the executive committee and chairpersons of various committees.

“The church has high expectations from you and do not disappoint members who ushered you into the committees. We have programmes and projects which entirely depend on your performance to be accomplished,” said Maulidi.

He told the leaders not to fear, assuring them that Jesus will always be there to protect them as they execute their duties.

During the ceremony, session clerk Fanuel Kumdana unveiled a K74 million budget for the church to cater for administration and implementation of projects.

Kumdana said for the budget to be realistic it depends on the chairs’ commitment.

“It all depends on your performance in your various committees on how you can raise this amount and how materials can be purchased. We have the multipurpose hall project and we need a servants’ quarters at the manse, among other activities,” he said.

Procurement committee chair James Chauta in an interview said he would set up a group of professionals who will set guidelines for purchasing materials. n
