The two had stayed close to a year without working together.

Grace Mtegha, a member of village development committee in Chilomoni Ward said the rift between the MP and councillor was derailing development.

“What was happening is that each of them was coming up with their own communication on similar projects trying to outsmart each other because there was no unity,” she said.

Gowelo said he believed in statesmanship,, hence, facilitating the meeting to bury the differences.

He said he decided to set a good example to other constituencies facing a similar problems.

On his part, Kameta said he was happy to finally meet the MP to resolve their differences that were affecting innocent people.

However, some members of the development committees still felt the MP should let the councillor lead in administering development projects.
