Blantyre North parliamentarian Francis Phiso on Monday called on President Joyce Banda to apologise for “creating” hunger in the country.

Contributing to the debate on the President’s statement delivered when she opened the 44th Session of the august House, Phiso said it was sad that while Malawians were struggling to get maize and the President was busy preaching about hunger, 30 000 metric tonnes  of the grain was rotting at the National Food Reserve Agency (NFRA).

“I demand that government should institute a commission of inquiry. Government normally rushes into creating commissions of inquiry, why not now? I also demand that President Joyce Banda should apologise for creating hunger in this country,” he said.
