FMB 20/20 Cricket Super League runners-up MSC Silver have vowed to end MSC Orange’s four-year dominance.
MSC Silver’s captain Saeed Limdawala said this after his side topped the log table on Sunday with a victory over MSC Gold at the Oriental Cricket Club (OCC) in Blantyre.
They won the game 151 runs to 150 and have climbed the ladder with four points from three games.
Limdawala said although they know it will be a tall order to snatch the title from the defending champions, they are confident of making it in the annual contest this season.
MSC Silver was formed last year and they managed to finish second in the 2011 FMB League after losing to the champions by 80 runs in the finals. Recently, the team won the nine-team Oriental Domestic Cricket Tournament, which acted as a preseason event to the FMB contest.
“We are fast gaining confidence and experience in the local cricket arena. Within our first two years in cricket, we have already finished as runners-up in FMB contest and have won the preseason event. Now, we are leaving no stone unturned in our bid to end Orange’s dominance in the league,” he said.
In other games on Sunday, MSC Orange beat MSC Blue by 16 runs after making 124 runs whereas Indian Sports Club (ISC) made 153 runs to outsmart Oriental Tigers by a run. Veterans saw off MSC Red by three runs as they made 116.
Meanwhile, the Southern Region Cricket League (SRCL) spokesperson Jayendra Kher has said the FMB League will enter fourth week this weekend as ISC will be hosting Blantyre Sports Club 2 (BSC) before BSC 1 face MSC Red on Saturday. Oriental Tigers will also tussle against MSC White at Mpingwe Sports Club on the same day.
