Msungama’s son wants to join Big Bullets

Former Big Bullets chairperson Kondi Msungama’s son, Dean-Percy, who has spent the past eight years playing in the amatuer leagues in the United Kingdom, has expressed interest to join the People’s Team.

Msungama, 25, who arrived in the country just over a week ago after spending 18 years in England, said he is looking forward to continuing with his playing career on the local scene and feels Bullets could provide him the platform to showcase his talents.

“I believe I am good enough to play in the Super League and my intention is to try my luck at Bullets because it is the team I have supported since my childhood. Simply put, it is a family team. I will be returning to the UK soon just to sort out one or two things before returning home for good.

“I want to go through the normal trials and be assessed just like any other player and not because I am Msungama’s son or that I have played in England,” he said.

He claims to have had stints with Nottinghamshire, Notts County, Kimberly Town, Eaton Town and Mansfield Town.

“I have played in the FA Cup for all these teams and I was named player of the year at Notts County during the 2004/05 season as well as at Mansfield Town in 2008.

“Just recently, I was named Player of the Tournament which was part of Malawi’s Independence celebrations and I got a medal. I played for Malawi Select and the other participating teams were Coventry, Birmingham and Essex feeder sides,” he said.

Msungama said in between (2010-2013) he played for PDRM FC in Malaysia while studying a bachelor’s degree in business management.

His father Kondi said: “People kept telling me that they have watched him play and that he is a good player, but I never took them seriously until I watched him play recently.

“He loves football, but I stood in his way all along so that he could concentrate on his studies, now that he is through, I have no problems.”
