Mulli Brothers Limited (MBL) has pledged to unveil yet another K1 million (about $4 000) district football league sponsorship in the Southern Region by the end of this month.

MBL managing director Leston Mulli said this at the launch of the MBL K1 million Mulanje District League on Sunday. The company also sponsors the Phalombe District Football League to the same amount.

Mulli told the Southern Region Football Committee (SRFC) to identify the third district to be sponsored.

“They should choose among Thyolo, Chiradzulu, Mwanza and Neno so that by the end of this month, we should give one of the districts another K1 million.

“From next month, we will also look at three more districts and by the end of this year, we want to see to it that each district in the Southern Region has a K1 million- sponsored league.

“We are committed to helping FAM develop football at the grass roots as well as giving back to the communities,” said Mulli.

FAM president Walter Nyamilandu hailed MBL for the gesture and pleaded with the beneficiaries to safeguard the sponsorship.

“Please run the league professionally. We are ready to offer expertise in refereeing, coaching and administration to the teams and the organising committee.

“Mulli have shown great commitment in supporting football. They helped Bullets and Flames recently and now they have diverted to the grassroots. This is commendable,” said Nyamilandu.

SRFC chairperson Raphael Humba said they will choose the district to get the sponsorship by end of the week.
