Musician Star Marley weds

Sensational dance-hall musician, Star Marley, got married to the love of his life, Alice Zachariah at a colourful Nikkah ceremony that took place at Chichiri Secondary School Hall on Saturday.

As it clocked 1:30pm, the hall was crammed to capacity while the wedding songs beckoned the wedding party into a dance.

And the convoy carrying the couple trickled into the vicinity of the reception hall with the artist sitting next to his better half in a car stuck with the traditional ‘Just Married’ plate. Clad in a black suit, a white shirt and a maroon bow-tie, the dancehall musician disembarked to ululations.

No sooner had couple joined the doting crowd in song than it turned into a free-for-all dance carnival.

Born Emmanuel Kunje, the musician’s wedding drew people from all walks of life including fellow musicians, among them Annie Matumbi and Chilipiro Mwamcheka.

Matumbi said he was excited be part of Star Marley’s wedding, as he is a long time friend and brother in music.

“I am happy that Star Marley is now married. As you know, I once worked with him to complete his late brother Vic’s album. I treat him as a brother and I am really happy for him,” said Matumbi.

Marley said he has been looking forward to this day, adding that now that he is a married man, his fans should expect better music from him.

“I am happy that I have married a person who has been a friend and an inspiration in my career. She has been guiding me in the career all this long. And now that we will live together as husband and wife, my fans should expect the best from me,” he said.

Star Marley came into the limelight in 2005 after his brother, Vic Marley, died in a road accident.

Star Marley has a single album to his credit, dubbed Traffic Police which has tracks such as Nambewe, Njenjenje and Woyendayenda.
