During the month of Ramadhan Muslims in the country will have extra 20 units of prayers known as Tarabi where they will listen to the Q’uran and understand it.
The fasting is expected to start on Thursday in the ninth Month of Islamic calendar in the year 1436 A.H.
In an interview, Sheikh Abdul Razzak Fattani, executive director for Islamic Relief Agency (IRA) said the fasting will be observed by both young and elderly Muslims, except those that are sick and weak.
“During the breaking of fast each day, Muslims will be sharing gifts and foods to the less privileged, the sick and the elderly. The concept of fasting is to feel and understand hunger,” said Fattani.
He disclosed that Muslims will also be praying against economic crisis, calling for religious co-existence and tolerance among leaders as well as unity of the country to continue to flourish.
Fattani said IRA and other Islamic organisations will during this fasting period donate various items to prisons, hospitals and orphanages, among other places.
