Mwamaso loses comeback bout to Mwenda

Mzuzu-based professional boxer Felix Mwamaso lost a non-title bout held at Obrigado Leisure Park in Mzuzu to Alick Mwenda of Lilongwe on unanimous points decision.

This was the first bout since Malawi Professional Boxing Control Board (MPBCB) banned Mwamaso three months ago for fighting Malashali Shola in March in Tanzania without clearance from the board.

The bantamweight fight was sponsored by Baghdad Mwamlima Boxing Promotion.

Mwamaso, who made an early warning that he will finish off Mwenda in round six, was out of his best as he received combined jabs in the first three rounds from Mwenda.

Mwamaso pushed his lead from the fifth round but Mwenda was so tactical and avoided Mwamaso knockout punches.

At the end of the bout, judges put Mwenda ahead with 80-79, 77-75 and 76-77 records; results Mwamaso did not accept.
