Earning Malawi raises: Mwawiwawi

Malawi’s netball export Mwawi Kumwenda is not only impressing fans in New Zealand, but also her teammates at Easio Tactix.

The former Escom Sisters star was last Wednesday crowned the club’s 2014 Players’ Player of the Year and her teammates awarded her the Players’ Choice Award.

In an interview with Zodiak Broadcasting Station (ZBS), Mwawi said it is God at work for her to be spotted on that occasion.

She promised to translate that work in the Malawi netball team which will soon have numerous encounters at the Commonwealth Games in Scotland next month.

“I am very happy for the awards. This is the will of God,” said Mwawi.

The netball star is expected to join the Queens training camp on June 25.

This is not the first time the Malawi shooter stood out as the best player.

She was awarded Player of the Week accolade and the Attacking Golden Bib Award for round two of the ANZ Championships in March this year.

Mwawi, 23, has made history as the first netballer from southern Africa to feature in the Trans-Tasman League.
