Mwenefumbo dares Mwalwanda on election re-run

Former People’s Party (PP) deputy secretary general Frank Mwenefumbo has challenged his rival former Deputy Minister of Finance Cornelius Mwalwanda that he will beat him by a bigger margin if he dares seek a re-run in Karonga Central Constituency.

Mwalwanda is challenging the results where Mwenefumbo amassed 8 128 votes against his (Mwalwanda’s) 6 610 votes in last Tuesday’s polls.

In an interview yesterday, Mwalwanda claimed the election was rigged and has since engaged lawyers on the possibility of challenging the results through the courts.

However, Mwenefumbo said Mwalwanda’s rigging claims “are typical of a loser”.

“He used wrong campaign tactics,” said Mwenefumbo.
