Mzuzu Diocese of the Catholic Church recently consecrated the Holy Family outstation as its new parish.

The prayer house is located at Mzuzu Technical College and has had its name changed to St. Thomas the Apostle Parish following the consecration.

In his Eucharistic mass, Head of Mzuzu Diocese, Bishop Joseph Zuza; asked the faithful to spread the gospel beyond the parish.

He encouraged the leadership of the new parish and Christians to manifest love and reconciliation to the world.

Head of the new parish Father Richard Deschenes said he was happy their wish had been granted.

Deschenes said the parish has a population of 6 000 Christians who live in Zolozolo, Ching’ambo, Marymount and some parts of Nkhata Bay.
