Fun-seekers in Mzuzu did not have to worry where to spend Christmas Day as Sunbird Mzuzu’s Boma Park was lively with a gospel music show thanks to Martha Kasambala-Katsache.

Kasambala-Katsache, Mzuzu’s rising gospel singer, launched her third album Amasamala, both in CD and DVD, at a show supported by Ethel Kamwendo-Banda, Kamuzu Barracks and Lloyd Phiri, among others.

She might be little known on the music landscape in Malawi, but her performance to an impressive audience proved that she is the next big thing in the country.

Her songs Nthawi Yanga Yakwana, Nganganga Ndi Yesu and Favour are some of the hits that are not only enjoying airplay in various radio stations, but also kept the audience glued to the dance-floor during the show.

Also impressive were Kamuzu Barracks who tantalised the audience with their creative acts on stage.

Their usual marching acts drew spontaneous applause just as much as their flexibility in a particular song which would be delivered in various music genres and dance moves.

When fans thought that was enough, Kamwendo-Banda took over the mantle to the Lilongwe-based soldiers left by offering yet another epic performance.

Mwandikondera, Ndi Umboni and Usachoke were some of the songs that were a marvel to watch as the fans were drowned in excitement.

Lloyd Phiri closed the curtains as darkness descended upon to wrap up the show that would possibly be the best Christmas gift to gospel music lovers.
