All roads lead to Mzuzu Stadium tomorrow as Malawi joins the rest of the world in commemorating the World Athletics Day (WAD), the Athletics Association of Malawi (AAM) has confirmed.

In an interview yesterday, AAM general secretary (GS) Frank Chitembeya said while all other countries celebrated the day on May 10, Malawi will honour it on the day.

He said activities marking the day will be running for a distance of 100 metres, 200 metres, 400 metres, 800 metres, 1 500 metres and 5 000 metres, among others.

Meanwhile, Chitembeya has said Mzuzu will combine the commemoration with the Presidential Initiative on Sports games.

Said Chitembeya: “While Mzuzu will combine both the WAD and Presidential games, in the Eastern and Southern regions athletes will fight for the Presidential honours at Chilunga in Zomba at Kamuzu Institute for Sports (KIS) in Lilongwe for the Central Region.

He said winners in all the categories will receive K8 000, runners-up K5000 and third placed K3 000.
