With government announcing a provisional budget for the next four months, the Netball Association of Malawi hope their K200m budget will be considered.

In his State of the Nation Address, President Peter Mutharika said his government will be ready to announce the budget in October and has since asked Parliament to approve a provisional budget.

MTL_queens_in_blue“Government has always been there for us and our prayer is that our programmes can be considered in the provisional budget. We have high expectations since we have a woman minister responsible,” said Rose Chinunda, who is NAM president.

She said they have a lot of programmes for the Queens and the junior teams, which needs financing.

In a related development, NAM has said the arrival of professional netball player Mwawi Kumwenda will add value to the Queens training.

Kumwenda arrived in the country last week from New Zealand where she is trading her professional career.n
