Bapu: We are yet to finalise

The Netball Association of Malawi (NAM) has released its 2015 calendar of events, but conspicuously missing is the Standard Bank Cup contrary to the bank’s recent interest to resume sponsorship of the cup.
NAM general secretary Carol Bapu said they deliberately omitted the Standard Bank tournament because talks about it are still going on with the sponsor.
“We have not yet received a nod from them as we are yet to finalise talks, as such, we could not include the cup in our calendar. What we have put on our programmme is what we have on the table,” said Bapu.
The NAM calendar includes a meeting to discuss formulation of a strategic plan aimed at transforming netball in the country.
“We had already started the process, but we are yet to finalise. Next month, at dates to be announced, we will have a stakeholders meeting to discuss the subject and make recommendations,” said Bapu.
In the calendar, there is also no activity for the junior Queens, which means the junior Queens will be idle for two years running.
There is also no mention of friendly games for the Queens, begging questions about NAM’s seriousness to ensure that the team has adequate preparations for major games line up for the year, including the African Netball Championships, Netball World Championship and Fast5 Series.
