Nambuma Utd lead Chipiku League

Newcomers Nambuma United are topping the K5 million (about $16 000) Chipiku Lilongwe and Districts Football League (LDFL).

They sneaked into the Premier Division through play-offs after they finished Division One on fourth position.

According to the log table, Nambuma are top with 12 points from five games. They lost a single game to Mponela United (former Adams FC) 1-0 in their third league game.

On Saturday, Nambuma beat Dzaleka UN 3-2 through goals from Patrick Msisya (2 goals) and Charles Teacher Nkungula whereas on Sunday they also collected three points after beating Dwangwa United by the same margin. Msisya was also on target twice. The other goal was scored by Nkungula.

Msisya is the leading goalscorer with seven goals. He is followed by Nkungula, six goals.

At the weekend, Mponela United had mixed fortunes after they collected four points from a possible six. On Saturday, they beat Duli (formerly Green Rangers) 4-0 whereas on Sunday they drew 2-2 against Kasungu Police.

Mtsiliza United started the season on a bad note after they lost 1-0 at home to Support Battalion. Gift Bango scored the lone goal for the visitors.
