“The sport has been played on a social basis for a long time and it is like a dream that finally has come to fruition. It feels great and everyone looks forward to the experience,” said Gondwe in an interview from Salima yesterday.

He said the team will leave camp on Saturday for Lilongwe and will fly out on Sunday.

Players that have made it to Seychelles includes Yona Malunga ( Karonga), Van Malunga, ( Mangochi Navy), Zaha Hamisi (Tourism), Bothwel Saka ( Tiripano), James Chikopa(Tourism), Isaac Kajamu (Nkopola), Precious Mboma (Karonga Madala), Benson Jenasi (Livingstonia),Festus Chikweza ( Karonga Puma) Leonard Makumba (Mangochi Escom).

“We believe we have a team that can represent us well. The selection has been transparent and even Beach Soccer Malawi management had some input. The training itself has been intense and we have done the best we could,” said Gondwe.

Beach Soccer Malawi (BSM) general secretary Davies Saddo has also expressed confidence in the squad selected, saying it is composed of good players.

“As beach soccer we have been monitoring the training. I must say that we are happy with the response from players and also technical panel for drilling the team,” said Saddo.
