National Youth Football Association (NYFA) and First Capital Bank sponsors of the Under-20 national football league  yesterday donated assorted items to  Dedza District Hospital.

NYFA president Chimango Munthali said the money used to buy the equipment was part of First Capital Bank’s 2018 K30 million sponsorship.

“Through this donation we are trying to train the youth, in particular our footballers to embrace a giving culture, especially to the less-privileged.

“We are grateful to First Capital Bank for allowing us to donate to a good cause,” he said.

Munthali said they noticed that the hospital needed the materials during the 2018 finals of the Under-20 League held at Dedza Stadium involving Dedza Young Soccer Stars and Ndirande Youths.

Receiving the donation, senior medical officer Chimwemwe Kwatiwani commended NYFA and the sponsors.

“We have so many needs here at the hospital and we need partners like First Capital Bank and NYFA. The equipment donated today is important in our operations.

“These are essentials and will go a long way to help patients at the hospital,” she said

Kwatiwani also said they never expected that football officials could think of supporting hospital activities.

She has since appealed to companies and organisations to help the hospital.

“We have a list of things we need such as thermometers, drugs, syringes and we urge companies and organisations to come and save us,” said Kwatiwani.
