Renowned gospel group, Ndirande Anglican Voices on Sunday launched its seventh album Ndimamvetsera Kumwamba in Lilongwe, weeks after another launch at Comesa Hall in Blantyre.

The launch, dubbed Ndimamvetsera Kumwamba Explosion, attracted gospel music lovers who filled Bingu International Convention Centre’s (Bicc) auditorium to see the group perform the new songs.

Artists such as Wycliffe Chimwendo, Favoured Martha, The Great Angels Choir, Kamuzu Barracks, Debbie the Amapiano Queen and Skeffa Chimoto performed at the launch.

After the launch, Ndirande Anglican Voices director of music and operations Dennis Kalimbe expressed joy at the successful turnout and the smooth organisation of the choir’s major performance since 2012.

“It’s been a long time since we performed in Lilongwe as a choir and for us to see such a huge turnout, it is wonderful and we are grateful for the support that Lilongwe has shown on this day,” he said.

Kalimbe further said the album marked a milestone in the choir’s 24-year journey and is a sign of growth and new direction as they continue to entertain people and spread the gospel.

“This seventh album is trying to bring us new dimensions of life, new ways of preaching and making people understand better the word of God and help them come closer to the ways of God, making them understand that God is for those who are lost,” he said.

A patron, Alinuswe Makasa, hailed the new album, saying it has inspiring and encouraging lyrics.

“I have listened to the album so many times and I always feel inspired and encouraged because every song moves me and watching the choir’s performance today, all I can say is that it is a blessing to witness such talented artists glorifying God through their music,” she said.

During auction, four highest bidders bought the CD at K1 million each while others bought it at K500 000 and others offered lower prices.

Ndimamvetsera Kumwamba comprises eight tracks, including Paulo, Ndinu Woyera and the title track Ndimamvetsera Kumwamba.

Ndirande Anglican Voices was established in 1999 before debuting with Ndasayina album in 2001. Other albums include Tiyeni Tonse, Mulungu Amatikondera, Ndasamba M’manja, Zimandikwanila and Namondwe Tonthola.
