New BDDL GS gets tough on etiquette

Newly elected Blantyre and Districts Darts League (BDDL) general secretary Diovannah Surtee has instantly settled down to business by cracking down on players’ laissez faire attitude towards darts etiquette, including dressing.

In a circular on Friday to the league’s divisions one and two teams, Surtee laid down the rules ahead of the new season whose fixtures have since been released.

“All teams/players are requested to be in full darts attire when participating in BDDL games and all competitions,” she wrote, noting that only those dressed in a pair of trousers, a golf-shirt and office shoes would be entertained.

She further said it was compulsory for teams to process with the league their players’ identity cards by April 28 2012.

“Teams/players that have no IDs will not be allowed to participate in any cup or league game. All teams are requested to send their contact details for reconfirmation,” said Surtee who plays for Blantyre Sports Club (BSC).

“If there is transferring of players, captain’s confirmation through a letter is compulsory and a player is only allowed to change two teams [in a season],” adds the circular.

Surtee, the only female in the BDDL executive, was ushered in office last week after defeating Chipiliro Mzanda at BSC.
