Mighty Mukuru Wanderers new technical director (TD) Mark Harrison says the project of turning around the club’s fortunes will not be an overnight exercise.

The Briton, who has replaced Eddingtone Ng’onamo, said this on arrival at Chileka International Airport in Blantyre yesterday.

He said: “It’s a process  and it’s not going to happen overnight.”

The 61-year-old said he did his research on the club.

“I know that they are the oldest club in the country and one of the two biggest teams lacking a bit of success in the recent past.

“Based on the reception today, I know there is an aweful lot of expectation. Obviously, I need to see a few games to get an idea of where we are.”

Harrison said his focus will not be on the senior team alone.

“As TD, it’s not just about the first team, but also the reserve and Under-20 teams. I need to have a look at all the three teams and also help the coaches,”he said.

On his style of play, the TD said: “I like my players to go and enjoy themselves without fear. They should play entertaining and attacking  football, closing the opposition quickly.

“If I can bring a bit of European model, it will be a good balance.

The club’s company secretary and legal adviser Chancy Gondwe said they are excited that the coach is finally here.

“Of course, we don’t expect results overnight, we need to give him a bit of time,”he said.

Harrison, signed a two-year deal with Wanderers and his last job was head coach for Kenyan giants Gor Mahia.

He has also had stints with top-flight league clubs in South Africa, Zimbabwe and Botswana. His notable achievements include winning the Botswana Premier League title with Township Rollers and the Chibuku Super Cup with Harare City in Zimbabwe.

In England, he coached Everton Under-23 side and Bristol City.
