Flames midfielder Robert Ng’ambi is nursing yet another injury ahead of this Saturday’s 2015 Africa Cup of Nations qualifier against Mali’s Eagles in Bamako.

Ng’ambi disclosed in a telephone interview from South Africa on Saturday that he is recovering from a calf-muscle injury he picked during the MTN8 semi-final second leg between his club Platinum Stars and Kaizer Chiefs.

However, Ng’ambi played down fears of missing the Mali encounter.

“It’s not that serious and I should definitely be available for the match,” he said.

Ng’ambi said he is looking forward to making a return for national duty in Mali after being restricted by injuries for almost a year.

Ng’ambi last played for the Flames in September last year against Nigeria in a World Cup qualifier away in Calabar which the Flames lost 2-0.

He also spoke of the failure to defend the MTN8 tournament after being booted out by Kaizer Chiefs 5-0 on aggregate.

“It was frustrating to be kicked out in the semi-finals, but we have switched focus to other competitions,” said Ng’ambi.

He was the centrepiece for Stars triumph last year in which he was named player of the tournament.
