Khumbo Ng’ambi’s brace helped Mighty Wanderers claim three points after beating Mafco 3-1 in a thrilling TNM Super League encounter at Kamuzu Stadium in Blantyre yesterday.
The victory means the Nomads have risen to position eight with 17 points, displacing Kamuzu Barracks (KB).
They have so far won seven games, drawn twice and lost six times.

On the other hand, Mafco remain stuck on position five with 23 points.
Ng’ambi’s dropping from the Under-20 national team squad that lost 1-0 to Zambia yesterday was a blessing in disguise as the lad finally scored after a five-match goal drought.
His first goal came in the 20th minute when he headed home a Mike Kaziputa’s cross from the left flank.
Mafco equalised from spot-kick taken by Patrick Masanjala. However, this was short-lived as, a minute later, Ng’ambi put the Nomads back in front with a header.

A minute before the final whistle, Jacob Ngwira sealed the Nomads’ victory with a well-taken free-kick just outside the box. The Nomads won the free-kick after Mapopa Kaunda suffered a hard tackle.
“I am impressed with the performance of my charges today. They played with passion and determination for us to get the much-needed three points,” said Nomads team manager Kannock Munde.
Mafco coach Stereo Gondwe said: “Anything can happen in the game of football and we accept defeat. However, we are looking forward to winning our remaining 13 games.” n
