Ng’ambi’s injury terrible, coach
South Africa’s Premier Soccer League (PSL) side Platinum Stars coach has described Robert Ng’ambi’s injury as terrible, casting a further doubt on his availability for the Flames.
On Stars official website www. platinumstarsfc.com, coach Owen Da Gama on Tuesday declared that Ng’ambi would be out for this Saturday’s PSL home game against Orlando Pirates.
“All of our players are available, bar midfielder Robert Ng’ambi, who suffered a terrible injury against Ajax soon after coming onto the pitch, and Ntsikelelo Nyauza, who was red-carded,” Da Gama told the website.
Ng’ambi was not readily available for an update on the injury on Tuesday, but he seemed to refer to his injury when on his Facebook wall he wrote: “I cannot believe this God, why me?”
Ng’ambi might join Russell Mwafulirwa, Elvis Kafoteka and Harry Nyirenda on the list of those not travelling to Chad.
Flames coach Kinnah Phiri will not consider Mwafulirwa for the Chad trip as the striker was finding his feet at Jomo Cosmos. Kafoteka who is on a club-hunting mission in Thailand ruled himself out whereas Nyirenda is injured.
Captain Peter Mponda, who has been unlucky since switching from Black Leopards to Santos, is also yet to play in the last stage of the South Africa league which resumed last week after the 2012 Africa Cup of Nations recess.
“I hope to play in the Cape Town derby [against Ajax Cape Town] this weekend. This will be my first game,” Mponda said on Monday.
Half of the players who make coach Kinnah’s best XI are either not match fit or injured, painting the trip to Chad another tough adventure.
