Robert Ng’ambi remained as the most regular of nine Malawians in the South Africa Premier Soccer League (PSL) after helping his Platinum Stars to a 2-1 win over Amazulu on Saturday.

Ng’ambi was substituted in the 69th minute for eventual goalscorer Patrick Molakase after Namibian international Henrico Botes had put Stars ahead.

Amazulu, who sidelined Flames defender Moses Chavula, are eighth on 37 points and they got their consolation through Ayanda Dlamini. Stars, who did not feature another Malawian, Chiukepo Msowoya, are 10th on 33 points.

There was no sign of Atusaye Nyondo as his SuperSport United eased past Kaizer Chiefs 2-1 with goals from Ashley Hartog and Kermit Erasmus. Lehlohonolo Majoro scored for Chiefs at FNB Stadium.

SuperSport are third on 48 points, a point behind second-positioned Orlando Pirates and leaders Mamelodi Sundowns who are on 49 points from 27 games.

Tawonga Chimodzi came off the bench in the 72nd minute as second from bottom (with 23 points) Santos fell 3-1 to Mamelodi Sundowns at Moripe Stadium on Sunday. Santos and third from the bottom Leopards are in the danger of relegation.

In Confederations Cup last of 16 match, Black Leopards suffered a 3-1 mauling by Nigeria’s Warri Wolves at Warri Township Stadium in Lagos with Dave Banda enjoying full game time.

Leopards need a two-goal margin win against Warri Wolves to progress.
