Malawi national football team (the Flames) striker Robin Ngalande finally made his competitive debut for South African Premier Soccer League (PSL) side Bidvest Wits on Friday in a Telkom Knockout Cup against Kaizer Chiefs.

Wits won the match 3-2.

Ngalande was thrown in as a second-half substitute for Papy Faty in the 88th minute.

Speaking from Johannesburg, Ngalande said he was excited to get a run.

“I was very excited although I played for just a few minutes. It was enough to lift my spirits.

“Now, I will work extra hard to earn a position in the team,” said Ngalande.

However, the 20-year-old stated that he was not bitter to be reduced to the bench saying Wits have a number of good players.

“I will take every game at a time,” he said.

Ngalande was signed by Wits after ending his romance with Spanish La Liga side Atletico Madrid’s youth side.
