Platinum Stars must commit Robert Ng’ambi to a contract extension by this April or they will lose the Flames midfieder to other South African teams, his agent has cautioned.

Ng’ambi’s agent Tim Sukazi told KickOff magazine of South Africa on Thursday that while he has not received any offer, Stars must show interest in the renewal by April.

“By April 30 Platinum Stars should be sending us a letter saying that they are exercising the option on Ng’ambi and immediately his contract to Stars becomes extended by one year,” Sukazi was quoted as saying onwww.kickoff.com.

“If Platinum Stars fail to exercise the option on April 30, the option lapses and it becomes void. [However] no one has spoken to us.”

A fortnight ago, the same magazine reported that Ng’ambi was among the players clubs would jostle for in this transfer window.

“The Malawian international has been linked with Mamelodi Sundowns since 2001, but nothing materialised, this time though, Bidvest Wits may be the frontrunners,” reported the authoritative publication.

However, the former Big Bullets and Black Leopards playmaker shrugged off such reports, saying he was now used to speculation. Ng’ambi is the South Africa league’s leading scoring midfielder on four goals.

“I have come to accept that on the onset of every transfer window, I will always be a subject of transfer speculation. I just choose to ignore it. There is nothing suggesting that there is an offer,” Ng’ambi told The Nation.
