Nice conducts justice system training

National Initiative for Civic Education (Nice) Trust on Friday organised training for volunteers in Mulanje to increase knowledge among the people on justice system.

Mulanje Nice district civic education officer Twambilire Mwabungulu said in an interview after the training that the main objective is to make the community understand their rights.

“It is important for the community to understand case handling and complaints procedures. This will help them know the type of cases they can report directly to the courts or through the police and how to do it,” said Mwabungulu.

He said his office has been receiving a variety of complaints such as justice denial, defilement, rape and child abduction, which were being referred to various authorities.

“It is, therefore, imperative that our volunteers understand these issues so that they make informed decisions when dealing with such cases at community level,” said Mwabungulu.

The training is part of Democracy Governance Programme (DGP) implementation, commonly known as Programme Estimate 2 (PE 2), which is funded by the European Union (EU).
