The National Initiative for Civic Education (Nice) Trust has asked artists in Malawi to utilise their talent to promote good governance in the country.

The organisation has also emphasised the need for artists to actively participate in disseminating information on the social, economic and trade opportunities accruing from Malawi’s membership with regional trade blocs such as the Southern African Development Community (Sadc).

Ali: We have measures

Nice district civic education officer (Lilongwe Urban) Hajira Ali made the call on Friday at the end of a day-long training, which intended to equip artists with skills on how they can package messages on good governance and Sadc regional economic integration.

The artists were drawn from Ticheze Drama, Chakwanu Leka Cultural Troupe and Kakule Youth Drama Group.

She said her organisation has come up with deliberate measures to consolidate its working relationship with artistic organisations and groups for the same cause as Nice goes about doing its mandate of providing civic education on various issues in the country.

Mussa Jauma, a member of the Area 23-based Ticheze Drama Group, commended Nice for the training, saying it is critical for the promoting of talent among artists.

Jauma further noted that such trainings help promote working relationship among artistic groups.
