Chapola: We have strategised to grow

Nico General Insurance Company Limited, one of the country’s short-term insurers, has hailed its customers for their support that led to the firm registering a 200 percent profit rise to K1.8 billion in the year ended December 2013 from K611 million the year before.

The insurance firm’s chief executive officer, Eric Chapola, said this during a golf tournament in Blantyre organised as one way of thanking customers for their support.

“The idea is that we must thank you for your support in 2013 and 2014 is the year that we have strategised to grow through partnerships. The idea is that annually, we have to look at our performance, so we had to say thank you to our customers,” he said.

Chapola said despite difficult trading conditions characterised by slow economic growth, unstable exchange rate, high inflation rate and limited business opportunities in the economy, Nico General still performed well on the market.

He said the firm’s vision is to be the leading general insurer in the country in delivering world-class products and services and the mission is to provide innovative and quality insurance products and services to its clientele while adding value to stakeholders.

Nico General offers fast-track claims service which ensures that qualifying claims both motor and non-motor are settled within 24 hours.

“In addition to our unrivalled technical and financial capacity to underwrite large and small risks in Malawi, we have the support of strong reinsurers complementing our ability to underwrite world-class covers,” said Chapola.
