It has been said time and again that police officers in the country face endless problems which hinders their motivation. This has influenced musician Joseph Nkasa to release a song titled Anenere in which he bemoans police officers’ welfare.

The five minutes and 40-seconds song narrates several challenges and frustrations that police officers face. For example, in the song, Nkasa says police officers are not happy with their salaries.

Furthermore, the 42-year-old musician says the police officers are not happy with the houses in which they live because they are very small and were built many years ago, probably during colonial rule.

Nkasa sings: Muwatsatiremukaonenyumbazawozimeneakugonandimabanjaawo/Nditating’ono/Zinamangidwa kale nthawiyaatsamunda / Kunenazoonawapolisindimunthuwoyenerakumupatsachonsechisamaliro/Kupatulajombo, chipewa, uniform komansoamayeneraazinjoyandichuma/Apolisienaamagadirandalamakupezamthumbamwawoalibekalikonse/Kufikakunyumbaakadyeramtapashachonsechoanalikogadiramamiliyoni.

The song, which is enjoying airplay on different radio stations, goes on saying the police officers are not happy with their allowances and pension.

Through the song, Nkasa sends a message to new Inspector General of Malawi Police Service (MPS) LestenKachama.

Nkasa grabs the microphone: Congratulations LestenKachama, Inspector General wa police ndiinu /Takunyadiranimwafika pa nthawiyakeAmalawionseakukondwananu/Wapolisisangachitesitilakaiyeadalumbirakutetezadziko lake/Komatunayendimunthusalapheramadandauloameneamangothera cha mumtimamwake.

Nkasa banks hopes on Kachama saying the MPS boss has passed through the same problems hence he will do something to minimise the problems.
