Philimon ‘Nkhakamila’ Banda is set to fight Tanzanian Obote Ameme on Sunday in an exhibition bout at Nyasi Village Hotel, near Songwe Border Post in Tanzania.

Nyasi Village Boxing Promotions, who are promoting the fight, said the bout has been organised as one way of promoting the sport around the Songwe border area.

Director of Nyasi Boxing Promotions, Ndamyo Kalinga, said: “We want to promote the sport around this area and we felt that for a start we should invite Nkhakamila to face Ameme who is also a good boxer.”

Featherweight Ameme, 33, lost to Chrispin Moliati in a non-title lightweight international bout staged in the country recently.

He has fought 65 professional bouts and has won 38 (30 KO), lost 24 (11 KO) and drawn three.

Nkhakamila said he is looking forward to the bout.

“I believe the bout will give me an opportunity to impress other promoters and I am preparing for it,” he said.

Ameme is being trained by Omari Yazidu.

Kalinga said the winner of the bout will face Kenneth Chinthenga at the same venue on a later date.
