No Lebanon deal for Chavula

Flames stand-in captain Moses ‘Luba’ Chavula is back in South Africa from Lebanon without a deal, claiming the two clubs he was linked to were looking for a central defender.

“Initially, I was supposed to attend trials at a club called Chabab Al Sahel, but they told my manager later on that they were looking for a central defender.

“Then I went to Nejmeh SC, where I only had one training session because it transpired that they, too, were looking for a central defender,” said Chavula.

He blamed the development on communication breakdown between his manager and the two clubs.

“It appears the clubs only told my manager that they were looking for defenders without being specific. So, I had no choice but to leave on Thursday for Durban,” Chavula said on Tuesday.

He said his manager is still in contact with several clubs on prospects of other trials.

“Of course, time is not on my side, but I need to exercise a bit of patience,” he said.

Chavula came to a mutual agreement with South African PSL side Amazulu at the end of last season after he found game time hard to come by since joining in 2011.

He went to South Africa in 2008, when he joined Nathi Lions from MTL Wanderers and then, after a three-year stint with the club, he went on to join Usuthu in 2011.
