Nomads, Creck finish on high

Mighty Mukuru Wanderers have finished the first round of the TNM Super League on a high with a 2-0 win over Baka City at Karonga Stadium.

The Nomads have 28 points, nine adrift of leaders Silver Strikers.

Issac Kaliati and Mischeck Bottomani scored for Wanderers at Karonga Stadium.

Wanderers have eight wins,  four drawa and three losses.

Mwase: It is an important win

At Aubrey Dimba in Mchinji, Creck Sporting Club saw off Dedza Dynamos  2-0 to wrap up the first round.

George Chaomba and Arnold Kiyama goals ensured the three points for Creck Sporting.

With the win, Creck Sporting collected 23 points, moving up four places to sixth, overtaking Civil Service, Mafco and Moyale Barracks in that order.

Wanderers coach Meke Mwase said he was happy with the victory.

He said: “We thank the boys for working hard. It is an important win because we are lessening the gap between us and the league leaders. Coming from a loss and getting the three points is a good achievement.

“We struggled a bit in the first half because we were playing against the wind but we got the job done in the second half.”

On his part, Creck Sporting coach Joseph Kamwendo described the game as tough.

“We went into the game as underdogs, but we played a good game and got a positive result. This is a newly promoted team and to finish in the top eight, it is a good achievement and great motivation heading into the second round,” he said.
