Nomads donate to Kachere

Mighty Wanderers FC on Monday donated K200 000 (about $666) and 50 crates of eggs worth K60 000 (about $200) to Kachere Rehabilitation Centre in Blantyre as part of their social responsibility.

The club’s general secretary David Kanyenda said the gesture was one way of giving back to the community for the support they have received from several companies over the 50 years of the club’s existence.

“Since 1962, we have received massive corporate sponsorship from the corporate world such as Stansfield Motors, Limbe Leaf Tobacco, MTL and Carlsberg Malawi. People patronise our games across the country and, therefore, the donation is furtherance of our social responsibility,” said Kanyenda.

He said this was not a mere publicity stunt.

“We are truly concerned of the physically challenged. We donated cash to alleviate Kachere Rehabilitation’s budgetary constraints and the eggs are nutritious and will supplement their dietary requirements,” he said.

Management of the centre thanked the Nomads for their gesture and wished them well in their endeavours.
