Since the 2013/14 season, the two sides have met four times in league matches with Silver winning three and the Nomads earning a single triumph. Silver won 1-0, 2-0 and 2-1 before the Nomads found solace in a 1-0 win.

Before yesterday’s matches, the Nomads, who remain unbeaten in nine games, were at the summit of the log table with 21 points while Silver were on 16 points from the same number of games.

“History does not count in modern football. All that matters is to believe that we can do it and I have no doubt that we will emerge victorious come Sunday afternoon to maintain our unbeaten run this season,” said Kananji.

He added that he has a full squad following the return of their hit-man Muhammad Sulumba and Francis Mlimbika from national duties and the availability of Jabulani Linje and Kondwani Lufeyo, who have recovered from ankle injuries.

However, his counterpart at Silver Stein Chirwa said yesterday that although they are coming from a loss, they are ready to recover from their misery with a triumph over the Nomads.

“Of course, we had a setback of losing to Epac last week, but that is water under the bridge now. It is a fact that whenever we play against a big team like Wanderers, we always feel motivated to come out with a win and that is what is on our mind at the moment,” he said.

Chirwa said his key players such as Green Harawa, Ndaziona Chatsalira and Victor Limbani, who is expected to play at Kamuzu Stadium for the first time since his transfer from Big Bullets three months ago, are ready to inflict pain in the Nomads and return home with full points. n
