Nomads thump Baka City

Despite being utterly underrated, Mighty Mukuru Wanderers attacking midfielder Isaac Kaliati continues to defy all odds as he has systematically taken over the top scorer’s chart with 14 goals.

This follows his record five goals he netted against Baka City FC yesterday in a one-sided TNM Super League encounter at Kamuzu Stadium in Blantyre which the Nomads won 10-0.

Not only did the 26-year-old net the record breaking feat, but also provided three assists.

Such is the genius for the Nomads lad who despite his performance being overlooked by national  team coach Patrick Mabedi, he has maintained his form.

In a post-match interview Wanderers assistant coach Bob Mpinganjira attributed the cricket score to teamwork.

He said: “So thankful to our players that we discussed about it that if there is a chance to score more goals, we should do so.

“We told them that it is important that we score many goals because the gap between us and Silver Strikers was just too big. So, I’m very happy that we’ve done that.”

On his part, Kaliati attributed his success to team work.

He said: “I thank my teammates for this achievement. Alone I can’t achieve this.”

The Nomads were on fire as striker Clement Nyondo netted a hat trick with the other goals coming from  Gaddie Chirwa and Mischeck Botomani.

Kaliati leads with 14 goals with Kamuzu Barracks’ Zeliati Nkhoma on second with 12 goals, Isaac Msiska of Mzuzu City Hammers on third with 10 goals apiece with Creck Sporting’s George Chaomba.

Following the victory the Nomads have 41 points and have narrowed Silver’s lead at the top to four points.

However, the Bankers have a game in hand.

In another match, Moyale Barracks FC drew against Creck Sporting Club FC at Mzuzu Stadium.

The results saw Moyale rising to sixth position from seven with 29 points from 21 games while Creck have jumped to third position from five last week. They have 31 points from 20 games.

In the first round, Creck SC beat Moyale Barracks FC 3-2 at Civo Stadium in Lilongwe.

In  a post-match interview, Moyale coach Pritchard Mwansa said they did not play as planned.

“I am not happy with the display to say. No clear pattern. We need to work on that shortfalls in the next game,” he said.

On the other hand Creck Sporting club coach McDonald Mtetemera said it was tough  game but happy that they managed to collect a point away.
