Nomads to sign Japanese player

After signing Cameroonian striker Lionnel Atsu last season, trendsetters Be Forward Wanderers are expected to unveil a Japanese player Genki Nakamura.

The utility player is expected to arrive in the country this week to discuss personal terms with Wanderers.

Wanderers general secretary Mike Butao confirmed the development yesterday, describing the player as highly rated professional.

“There is a Japanese professional player interested in playing for Wanderers.

“This [man] has played in Brazil at youth level then Japan, Albania, Peru and Germany,” said

Butao.

Asked if the Nomads have the capacity to pay the 29-year-old player, Butao said they were banking on sponsors Be Forward to help them in paying the player’s perks.

“It all depends on modalities of his sponsorship for his stay here in Malawi from our sponsors Be Forward Limited. So, at the moment, that is all I can say,” Butao said.

According to transfermarket.com, a player database, Nakamura, who is currently a free agent, can play as a striker, attacking midfielder and right-winger.

His last club is Mohammed Sporting of India.

He has played for Bilisht and FK Tomori Berat of Albania, Sport Boys and Hijos de Acosvinchos (Peru), Cerezo Osaka (Japan), Saigon Port (Vietnam), and VfbHuls and DJK Tus (Germany).

Meanwhile, Football Association of Malawi FAM) transfer matching system (TMS) manager Casper Jangale said he would wait for Wanderers to approach him once they are through with negotiations with the player and his agent.

“As of now, they have not yet approached us for the player’s international transfer certificate, so we will just wait,” Jangale said.

Last season, Wanderers signed Cameroonian striker Atsu, but the player terminated his contract after accusing Wanderers of failing to fulfil contractual obligations.
