The National Statistical Office (NSO) will tomorrow release the 2018 Malawi Population and Housing Census (PHC) preliminary results.

NSO conducted the nationwide census from September 3 to 26, 2018 to come up with the nation’s current projected population and poverty indicators among others.

To conduct the briefing: Kanyuka

Confirming the development, NSO spokesperson Kingsley Manda said the results will be released through a press briefing at its headquarters in Zomba from 2PM.

The Commissioner of Statistics Mercy Kanyuka will preside over the briefing and thereafter an electronic copy of the results will be shared and uploaded on NSO website immediately for easy access by all.

Speaking to reporters a day before the close of the 2018 Census, Kanyuka expressed satisfaction with the exercise saying about 99 percent of the census work had been completed.

Malawi first conducted PHC in 1966 soon after independence. Other censuses were conducted in 1977, 1987, 1998, and in 2008.

The 2018 Census was supported by USaid, Norwegian Embassy, UKaid, United Nations, Irish Aid, UNFPA and Standard Bank.
