Moses Nthakomwa emerged winner of the Warm Heart Villa Golf on Saturday at the Lilongwe Golf Club after seeing off a challenge from over 80 other golfers.

He counted out Victor Kachepatsonga on second position and Hassey Hamdan on third after all of them registered a 39-point score.

It has been a while since Nthakomwa won a major tournament and no wonder he was visibly excited.

“It’s a great day for me to win the Warm Heart Villa Golf and I am really happy. I thank the sponsors and my playing partners. I played good golf and enjoyed it,” said Nthakomwa.

He got a trophy and a golf bag as his prizes.

In the ladies category, the battle was between Maina Mkandawire and Elizabeth Tench. Tench prevailed to the honours after having a 38 point-score while Mkandawire had 34 points.

Tench also got a golf bag and a trophy as her prizes.

“It’s a wonderful day and my playing partners were very encouraging. I thank Warm Heart Villa for organising this tournament,” said Tench.

Warm Heart Villa is a subsidiary of Sogecoa Company which also owns Golden Peacock Hotels in Lilongwe.

Marketing manager for Sogecoa Chris Lin said they organised the tournament in order to interact with their customers, most of which are golfers.

“We also wanted to update our clients on Warm Heart Villa services. We are happy to have had this tourney and it was fun interacting with all these people. We hope to organise more tournaments in future,” said Lin.

Warm Heart Villa is situated on the north bank of Lingadzi River connecting to Area 18. It comprises 16-unit town houses and 16 units of individual villas.
