Kalukusha then unveiled Nyauyu as the ambassador of the event while also confirming that three international artists, namely Yo Maps from Zambia, Blaq Diamond from South Africa and Alaine from Jamaica are confirmed to take part in the event.

He also hinted that they will be unveiling a fourth international artist from East Africa who will share the stage with over 10 local artists that will join Kell Kay, the only local confirmed artist so far.

“Nyauyu is a big brand and with this big bash coming ahead, we thought of partnering with her so that she can create the hype in the run up to the show as we target to attract over 20 000 patrons, ” said Kalukusha.

Nyauyu said she was excited to have been chosen as the ambassador for the event.

“I’m excited to be unveiled as an ambassador for this event and I promise to give out the best to sell this show. People should follow my Facebook page for updates every Thursday ahead of the show”, said Nyauyu.

Nyauyu has since assured all people that will grace the show that there will be tight security at the event.

“Already, I’ve been receiving questions on my Facebook page as to how we are going to manage security at the show. Let me assure you all that there will be water tight security, so worry not,” she said.

Speaking on behalf of partners for the show, Kentam Products marketing executive Andrew Mwase, said they decided to sponsor the show as one way of giving back to the community in which they operate being a wholly owned Malawian company.

“We are subsidizing the first 2 500 tickets which will be going out at K1 000 so that our customers can enjoy this show,” he said.

Apart from Kentam Products, Sound Addicts has also partnered with Zodiak Broadcasting Station, Print and Cut, Recapo, CP Investments and TC 11.

On his part, arts commentator Wonderful Mkhutche commended the coming in of the new event, saying Malawi needs more. He said: “We need more festivals. Our culture, economy and need for entertainment are big enough to accommodate as many festivals as we can have. All we need is for organisers to be creative enough. The festivals are important platforms when it comes to exposing arts industry and this can only be possible if we have several players.”
