University of Pretoria’s (Tuks) Malawian striker Atusaye Nyondo scored an equaliser—and his seventh of the South Africa Absa Premiership season—during a 1-1 draw with Morokwa Swallows on Wednesday night.

Citizen newspaper reports that Swallows were rewarded for their attacking approach with a goal in the 23rd minute. Siyabonga Nomvethe did the spade work for Vuyisile Wana to score, only for Nyondo to eventually level matters.

“Tuks wasted a golden opportunity in the 28th minute to level the scores,” reports www.citizen.co.za

“It took the hosts less than five minutes to equalise after the break. A lapse in the Swallows defence allowed Nyondo to run with the ball into the area, and his neat finish had the beating of Sage Stephens in the Swallows goal to make it 1-1.”

Nyondo is chasing the current South Africa league leading scorers (with 11 goals) namely Moeketsi Sekola of Free State Stars and Lerato Lamora of Bloemfontein Celtic.

Lamora is teammate of  Flames forward Frank Gabadinho Mhango who has only managed four goals just as is with Platinum Stars’ Robert Ng’ambi.

Another Malawian Esau Kanyenda has three goals.

Nyondo is the Tuks second leading scorer behind Geoffrey Massa with eight. Following the draw, UP are placed 10th on the 16-member log table on 32 points whereas Swallows sit second from the bottom on 24 points with relegation looming.
