O! The power of attaching discipline to our time

This year is a crucial time that needs a disciplined perceptive to all aspects of life.  Let me reiterate the importance of the discipline of time.  Time is very important.  Even in the bible, there are scriptures that attest to the fact that time is very crucial.  The time you enjoy wasting is not wasted.  TIME is the most precious/greatest source in our life.  It is irreversible, irreplaceable.  LOVE is spelt TIME.  You waste my time, you waste my life – period!

Various scriptures in the bible talk about the importance of attaching discipline to time.  The bible in Eph 5:15-16 charges us that ‘We should see then that we walk circumspectly, not as fools but as wise, redeeming the time, because the days are evil!  The book of Ecclesiastes Chapter 3 is famous for its ‘Time Verses’.  Verse 1 says ‘To every thing there is a season, and a time to every purpose under the heaven’.  Even  2 Peter 3:8 admonishes us ‘not to overlook this “one fact”, beloved, that with the Lord one day is as a thousand years, and a thousand years as one day’.

What am I trying to put across from the above points?  I am saying there is need to remember a  few things  :  1.  Time flies; 2. Life is short and uncertain; 3. People forget; and lastly 4. God remembers and rewards.

In Psalms 90:12 David prays a powerful prayer  :   ‘So teach us to number our days that we may get a heart of wisdom’.  This year, more than ever before, let this be our prayer.  May we be wise in the way that we use our time.  May we ask the Lord for direction – osabetsa nthawi!

START PREPARING YOURSELF ‘NOW’ FOR THE FUTURE.  As my pastor beautifully coins it  –  ‘To master your time is to master your life’.
