Good old days: Msungama with Osman

Big Bullets main supporters committee chairperson Isaac Jomo Osman on Monday announced his resignation citing serious internal strife that has rocked the club.

Osman’s resignation came barely two days after some ugly scenes marred the club’s stakeholders meeting called by board of trustees to make peace between warring factions.

During the mayhem, Bullets chairperson Kondi Msungama and general secretary are reported to have been physically confronted by a group of thugs.

“Kuli ndale zonyansa zikuchitika ku Bullets [There is a lot of dirty politics within the club]. So, I have thought it wise to step down.

“During yesterday’s football match against Epac at the stadium, many people deemed not to be in good terms with the chairperson and his cohorts, were beaten up and we suspect he had a hand,” claimed Osman.

Asked if he had handed in his resignation, Osman said: “The first step was to make a public announcement, but I, for the chairperson because we had a good working relationship, but he appears to have lost the plot.’

However, Bullets chairperson Kondi Msungama said he was surprised with Osman’s decision.

“To begin with, I am not aware that there were such ugly scenes at the stadium because I was busy with my guests from South Africa David Thidiela and his wife.

“Secondly, if there is someone who should be crying foul then it is me because I was physically confronted by thugs during the meeting we had to the point of being poured with beer. Being a leader, I took it very calmly,” said Msungama.

He added: “I have no time for such cheap politics, I cannot sink that low and I will therefore not dignify it by commenting. My focus is to ensure that the team’s revival drive is on course. My concerns are the welfare of the players and making sure that Bullets fans across the country are happy by ensuring that their team does well because that is what they expect from me,” said Msungama.

Bullets’ trustees secretary Jim Kalua also said he had just learnt about Osman’s resignation through the grapevine.

“All I can say for now is that we’ll get down to the bottom of all this. We do not want these squabbles to affect the performance of the team,” said Kalua.

During the previous committee’s reign, Osman who was then the vice-chairperson of the main supporters committee, also found himself at daggers drawn with the team’s leadership.
