Piksy album on road

The road to the launch of Nthumwi Piksy’s first album starts with an urban music party in Malawi’s old capital, Zomba, this Friday.

Piksy (real name Evans Zangazanga) came onto the music scene as one half of the duo Atumwi of Sendeza fame along with Nthumwi Nicodemo (Nicholas Mbonera).  He launched a solo career before signing for Nde’feyo Entertainment Label two years ago.

According to a list unveiled on Friday, the jam at Gymkhana Club will bring the old capital face to face with his fellow Nde’feyo signings —Maskal, Armstrong and Biriwiri—former Big Brother Africa housemate Lomwe as well as 2012 Malawian Music Awards nominee Barry One.

“As the Unamata hitmaker, Piksy, readies himself for the release of his highly anticipated debut solo album, it’s more than fitting that he kicks off the excitement with a pre-album show in Zomba, a city where a few years back he launched his blossoming music career,” said the label’s publicist Kimpho Loka  on Facebook.

The album is yet to be titled, but brings together the hit Unamata with equally unnerving Yabowoka,  Ponya Mwendo, Zolapitsa, Kwakuya, Otinyoza, Moto Moto and Tribal Party.

The live performances will be backed by Maziko Band. On the decks will be DJ Doug Fresh.
