Pillow talk returns to Lilongwe

Poetry lovers in Lilongwe had another dosage of rhymes and verses following the return of a gathering of verbal arts ‘The Pillow talk’.

After the initial show two weeks ago at the Serendipity Lifestyle Café, the Pillow talk returned at the same venue with a special focus on microphone sessions; where the audience was allowed to register and showcase any verbal art.

Performing in front of a sizeable crowd, one by one the poets took to the stage and dazzled the patronage with their verses, rhymes and gestures that punctuated their recitals.

Some of the well known poets who made recitals are Qabaniso Malewezi and Tawonga Taddja Nkhonjera of the Dikamawoko Arts.

It was all poetry as the audience was kept on toes feasting its eyes on poets because they had issues; they preached pillows and talked their talk while they walked on that little stage.

An acoustic musical performance by Lulu and Third Eye (real name Mandela Mwanza) was icing on the cake. The duo sent the crowd into stitches with their Portuguese song ‘Seniorita’.

Even after listening to dozens of poems from the versifiers through the open microphone session, at the end of the show, the crowd nonetheless begged for more.
